One night before I picked my wife up from her job at the pub I was snoozing and leaning back on my seat when the thing snapped, the mechanism gave up the ghost and the bracket broke.
The only option, besides driving in a horizontal position or fixing the darn thing, was to have a blue plastic milk crate behind the drivers side seat. Luckily, there just so happened to be one outside the shop where I was snoozing.
The subsequent welding and re-failing of the weakened seat joint made this object a permanent fixture in the car. That is until a time came by that required the reclining abilities of the seats to be fully functional...
I had made a good friend at the HNC class at Wigan Mining and Technical College, a chap who worked at British Leyland, Paul Martin. He took me to a Wigan scrapyard and we foraged for s seat and found an identical one.
