The Commodore 64 hobby had taken on a life of it's own and it seemed more about collecting programs than actually playing them.
A company called Stack in Liverpool had this special cartridge that would interupt a game and allow you to save the program onto cassette or floppy disk, I had plonked two hundred quid down on a breeze block sized 1541 disk drive to accelerate the process.
Graham Bennett was also embroiled in the fever and we had a few drinking sessions at his house as we donned the black eyepatches and did impersonations of Captain Pugwash.
The main culprit in all this was my girlfriends father, who had a vast library and many penfriends in the conspiracy against the software industry, however, here we are decades later and it appears that the industry is still thriving, so the likes of us didn't kill it after all.
