Graham Miller

Graham was a serious lad, sometimes had a sense of humour but had a deep desire to climb out of the rank and file. In 1985 he had turned down the opportunity to go to California because he was progressing his qualifications to obtain IMechE status.

I think the antics of the musketeers, Weldon, Tasker and Hutchison occasionally amused him, but he maintained his image as an interested and ambitious Stress man throughout.

This brings to mind an event, we told Graham that we had sewed John Wingates coat sleeves and for once he was thrilled to be part of the joke and hung back for a few minutes at the end of the day, a lot of the drawing office guys also knew of the prank and were hovering to watch the fun.

What we all knew, and Graham didn't, was that we had sewn up the arms of his jacket, which was on the back of his seat, so everyone was waiting for Graham to put his jacket on.

John Wingate walked to the coat rack, donned his hat and coat and walked out, Graham looked befuddled for a moment then as he struggled to put on his own jacket, realised that we had turned the tables on him.
