Stan was a much maligned character in the design office, nicknamed "swoop" he always stared over the top of his glasses, occasionally, yet rarely, smiling.
It was Stan and Ivor Chapman against the world, the world of wise cracking young draughtsmen that is, even when Stan was on holiday he wasn't free of it all as cardboard cutouts were erected to celebrate his absence.
