Stolen

I suppose there's a first time for everything, the Cortina was the first car that was ever stolen. Karen had come back to my house in Skelmersdale (a very common event in those halycon days of almost unlimited rampant totty) and we'd watched telly and stuff, when it came to take her home I noticed that the car parking spot was empty (I didn't have a driveway - just a space) and that space was definitely devoid of a mechanical device.

I immediately thought I must have parked it elsewhere (I wonder if everyone faced with the same situation has that thought) and looked about to see if I had in fact lost my mind and not my car. No. The car had been stolen.

The police called me a few weeks later, it had turned up about two or three miles away with a flat tire and no tools - always handy when you have the two together. So, it was also the first car that I'd had stolen and retrieved.

This solved an age old puzzle for me, I had wondered where the toolbox I had made at trade school had vanished in time, after saving the tools during the raid on the wrecked Maxi, they had found a new home in the Cortina, and then, a further new home in some mysterious, never to be discovered location in Skelmersdale.
